Empowering Nature-Based Entrepreneurship: Connectology and Nature Returns Launch Startup Academies
Connectology, in collaboration with Nature Returns, launched startup academies aimed at fostering sustainable entrepreneurship within protected natural areas. The first academies, held in São Tomé and Príncipe and Lonjsko Polje, Croatia, brought together selected entrepreneurs to refine their business proposals, receive pitch training, and engage with experts in the field.
The São Tomé and Príncipe academy focused on addressing environmental challenges such as deforestation and coastal plastic pollution. Entrepreneurs developed business plans designed to mitigate these threats, contributing to the preservation of vital ecosystems in the region.
In Lonjsko Polje, one of Europe’s largest and most biodiverse floodplain wetlands, participants worked on initiatives aimed at conserving this unique habitat. The academy emphasized the development of sustainable business models that support the long-term protection of the area’s rich biodiversity.
Both academies are part of the broader Nature Returns initiative, dedicated to enhancing protected area management through innovative, nature-based businesses. By empowering local entrepreneurs, Connectology and Nature Returns aim to create sustainable economic opportunities that align with environmental conservation goals.
